Happy Happy Time...
Neil Diamond is 64 today, and he's still fucking cool. For example:
- He's the "Jewish Elvis"
- Went to NYU on a fencing scholarship. Fencing!
- Was in The Last Waltz, looking coked up out of his mind
- Wrote "I'm a Believer," the only good song the Monkees ever had
- Had the chutzpah to cut a christmas album (which my mother forced me to listen to every December), which is akin to, say, Johnny Cash releasing a "Greatest hits of Judaism" record
- When he got divorced in 1995, had to pay $150,000,000 in the settlement. That isn't a typo.

RIP, Johnny Carson...
...
He was before my time, but everyone I've ever come across spoke of him glowingly. Remember that he wanted David Letterman to replace him, not Jay Leno, which was wonderfully dramatized in the book and the HBO movie The Late Shift.
Weather update...
Since I am the oldest 24 year old on the planet, I pay attention to a lot of things old men do, like international politics, my back problems, and especially the weather. For those of you who don't live in Cincinnati (which is none of you, because exactly one person reads this blog and that person is ME and I live in Cincinnati), it's been really fucking cold. To wit:
- I tried to hang a poster on a outside-backed wall in my apartment using tape. The tape didn't stick because it's really fucking cold.
- I have a foam mattress. The bed abuts the outside-backed wall in my bedroom. Generally, because the mattress is foam, it is soft. Now? It's like a rock -- because it's really fucking cold.
- I dumped some ice by my parking spot when I got home on Wednesday. It's still there, because it's really fucking cold.

Movie Page...
Being extremely bored at work, I decided to list and grade all the movies I've seen since I got my own place. Here it is; I'll put a link in the sidebar too.

Save The Wire...
...
The Wire is the best show on television, bar none. HBO, the same network which tolerated Arlis$ for five seasons, will probably cancel it. This is a shame.

Festive season pics...
My cousin Jeanie wasn't here this X-mas (on account of she just got married and is up in Connecticut with his family), so her sister Jackie (on the left) and my other cousin Andy went around with the digital camera and one of her wedding photos and took pictures with her picture then we posted this on the web. Note the glass of wine and the glazed look in my eyes...
From the party. L-R: me, my Uncle Tom Hamburg, my cousin Stephen.
More party. L-R: me, Stephen, my Uncle Tom Daugherty. The blurry pic isn't intentional, but is an accurate representation of my sight at this time. Stephen is also drunk.
X-mas day. Blame Andy for the blurry. L-R: Grandpa, my cousin Tim, Jackie, me.
The first game (12/19). L-R: my cousin Brian, me, my cousin Kevin, Stephen, my cousin Andy. Andy and Stephen are huge, irrational Bengals fans, so they made me wear the jersey. They said it had "karma" or some such shit. The Bengals lost 33-17, and I was banned from ever wearing another Bengals jersey to a game. To my everlasting dismay.

Festive season update...
Random shit that happened since my last update...
- Played the nice guy and picked two of my cousins up at CVG. Had a really great time -- went to the three things we do when they first get into town: Party Source, Skyline, Graeter's.
- Went to two football games -- and I hate football. Froze my ass off both times.
- It snowed on Wednesday/Thursday of X-mas week. Like, hard -- 6-8" in town, my dad had over a foot -- then ice on top of that.
- I went out during said snow storm -- to my grandma's for supper -- then back to my apartment later that night. This was incredibly stupid. (The driving part, not the supper-at-my-grandma's part)
- It continued snowing/icing after I returned and snowed/iced my car into its parking spot for several days.
- Got incredibly drunk on red wine at my Aunt's annual X-mas party on the 23rd.
- Had to get my brother to help me dig my car out.
- They replaced the boiler in my apartment building on Mon-Wed. of last week, so I got to stay in the lovely exotic resort of...the Norwood Motel 6.
- Saw The Aviator by myself at the mall theatre. That was the first and last time I went to the mall theatre. (The movie was good, not great. Leonardo Di Caprio played Howard Hughes, and was good enough.)
- The Reds signed Eric Milton for $25m. $25m! Eric Milton! They finally shell out some cash for a player and it's Eric fucking Milton.
- Eric fucking Milton gets $25m and I'm sitting in a shitty apartment with a shitty job and a shitty car writing this shitty blog update. Fuck!
- Seriously, Ryan would have been a better investment -- he can't pitch either, but at least he could help out the IT department on his off days.
- The Reds also signed Joe Randa to play 3rd base. I'm less upset about this, if only because Joe Randa has a comically large head (as do I).
- Went to my Aunt's on New Year's Eve.
- Read James Ellroy's L.A. Confidential. It may be the best book I've ever read. Seriously.
New Year's Resolutions...
1. Be nicer to people I don't know.
2. Talk to people I do know.
3. Do something creative -- write probably.
4. Go on a date.
5. Update this blog more.
Comments from the author:
#1 & #2 obviously won't happen. I mean come on -- if I start talking to people, I lose like half my personality right there. #4 will be hindered by the failure of #1. #3 and #5...I'm far too lazy to do anything about those.
